Visual Crowdsourcing for Smart Mobility
Visual crowdsourcing offers an inexpensive method to collect visual data for implementing tasks, such as 3D mapping and place detection, thanks to the prevalence of cameras. In this talk, we will present two application scenarios, including indoor mapping and navigation and collaborative driving. We will also discuss the challenges related to efficient data collection and latency-critical data processing.
Yu Xiao is an assistant professor at Department of Communications and Networking (COMNET), Aalto University, Finland. She received her doctoral degree with distinction from Aalto University in January 2012, and her master and bachelor degrees from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2007 and 2004, respectively. She won the young researcher award from Finnish Foundation for Technology Promotion in 2017. Her research interests have spanned from energy-efficient mobile computing, to edge computing, to crowdsensing, and to wearable cognitive computing.
