Abstract:
This presentation gives an overview on research activities in Machine Vision and Pattern Recognition Laboratory (MVPR) in Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT), Finland. The goal of MVPR is to perform high quality research on computational vision and modeling, machine learning, and pattern recognition. The laboratory also serves the industry as an expert organization, performs applied research, and educates experts in its own area. The research interests of the Laboratory include visual inspection in the industry, computational vision, medical imaging and processing, and biosensors. The presentation introduces the main research areas, focusing on visual inspection, especially on machine vision based quality control from pulping to papermaking for printing.
